After The World Ended
January 1, 2001
January 1, 2001
the millennium closes
and wires our souls
unable to grasp the silence
slipping past boundaries
of technology
where one day our machines
may touch the curve of days
and nights up against
a destiny of beauty --
as tears falling onto snow
and ice
celebrating
clocking with quartz crystals
oscillating in artificial beats
the cadence of my steps
measuring a voice of songs
detonating in explosions
of fire
burning the hillsides
of Arcadia, under a rising moon
outlining the darkness, orange
past long winter-solstice
nights screaming
i am horrified by the sight
marking the edge of wilderness --
blackened brilliantly by
a rhythm of relations
an image of the California sun
smoky visions arrive in my dream
where a talking chihuahua
crosses the border
and earthquakes erupt
on 2001
eating my 7-layer burrito
at the taco bell
the woman says with confidence
"the world is still ending
and jesus is coming soon"
